Browns, Covent Garden (Saturday's Lunch)

Browns, Covent Garden
Browns Bellini (Mercier Brut MV & white peach)
a salad to share for starters: rocket, green beans, hazelnuts, watermelon, goats cheese, sun-dried tomatoes
haunch of venison steak on a spinach & potato cake, with buttered chantenay carrots & caramelised apples
desserts: a lemon & mandarin & lemon tart served with clotted cream; Brown's eton mess of white chocolate & hazelnuts; & an apple, gooseberry & elderflower crumble, with custard.

Venison was slightly over-cooked (given my request for medium), but the taste was too lovely to prompt me to question or wait for another.. potato cake was well seasoned (maybe too salty for some, but perfect to my taste). Desserts, fantastic. Attentive staff. Overall, very well recommended.

yep, it was all pretty yummy!

they don't have clotted cream in america? it's basically very very thick cream (almost butter), which clots on top to form a sweet skin. it's best served with scones & jam :)
