Le Marais to Montmarte

 
 
 

Blue skies, crisp October afternoons, warming hands around coffee cups, sitting opposite the Tuileries, eating French Toast - when in France, mais non?! - discovering vintage arcade shopping malls, admiring the architecture on Boulevard de Haussmann, finding pretty white lace curtains embroidered with windmills in Montmartre, & coming across the Marais district one Sunday afternoon, full of life & enthusiasm & trendy hipsters with brightly coloured coats & snakeskin bags.

I had to devote a whole post to this magical place; it's the stuff that candied dreams & buttercream fairytales are made of. 

A sample of the pastries on offer:

- Olympe candied violet-incrusted macaroon biscuit, strawberry-raspberry sweet jelly, light violet mousse, fresh raspberries (below)

- Saint Honore puff pastry, caramel coated pate a choux, soft caramel, whipped bourbon vanilla cream

- Ginza Natsu Matcha green tea cake, strawberry mousse, fresh raspberries, pistachio ganache

...and the hot chocolate, seriously thick, seriously delicious, was to die for!

Goodbye London, hello Paris - you're mine for 4 days!
