VINCE CAMUTO STORE OPENING

Yesterday I was invited to attend the store opening of the Vince Camuto flagship in London, at 133 Kensington High Street, hosted by Modus PR. Beautiful blooms, macaroons by Lauduree, cocktails to match the flowers (served by rather beautiful male models), & a chance to view the new collections of handbags & shoes.

There were quite a few touches of neon (on the guests as well the collection!), wedge heels, coral shaped sandal straps, & lots of bows.

Several recognisable faces made an appearance, including Leah Wood, Leah Weller, Made in Chelsea's Rosie Fortescue, Samantha Barks (from the Les Mis film, SO pretty!), Angela Scanlon, blogger-extrordinaire Bip Ling, Britain's Next Top Model Sophie Sumner, Laura Jackson, Ophelia Lovibond (LOVE her fringe!), & of course Vince & Louise Camuto (& their grandson, hey Sophie?! ;)

Thanks to Modus PR for an awesome party, & for the very generous giftbags. Go check out Vince Camuto to find out more!

Moments

1. [fashion moment #236, within the sub-category of shoes].. these high-heels are the kind that make at least 2 strangers approach you instore & promise you that you have to buy them. they're that pretty. red satin, with peach ribbon-wrapped heel & bow. from ted baker.

2. so i've caught on with the whole kelly green phase this spring (following in the hallowed footsteps of Jean and Taylor), & purchased myself this lovely, pleated little number from primark. the belt came separately. together, they came to £15. Suh-weet!

3. new dress from dorothy perkins. old necklace from accessorize.

4. happy belated pancake day, via instagram! i had toasted walnuts, celery & mascarpone for starters, & then nutella with mascarpone for dessert. mascarpone x 2. what's not to love?

Head to Toe

These were in-theory First Date shoes; in-practice, they're death-by-heels/crippling implements that need a little wearing in around the house first. But I love them. (from Zara)

Inspired by Jessie, & with a heavily focussed mind & steady determination of hand (oh, & a few tissues for erasing errors), I incorporated half-moons into my manicure, choosing these 2 blues. Barry M was great for such artistry given that it's not a brand to make superfast drying polishes - my advice? work quickly, & wipe off errors with a tissue as you go. Apparently chemists sell stickers for such stencilry; maybe next time I'll give that a go..

3 More Letters (& A Fab Weekend!)

My weekend began at 5.02pm, Friday, when I received confirmation that I had passed my final exam (ACA) - most nerve-racking, expectation-laden text ever! (the results letter arrived the following day). First stop was Zara, where I treated myself to a black/tan/croc clutch, plus some flats of the same design - I first spotted the shoes on pinterest, & they look just as fab in real life!

Saturday began with a mexican bean burger, salsa & blue cheese, sandwiched between some wholemeal toast. Luckily, the weather seemed to hold out: in the evening a group of us attended an outdoor cinema screening of One Day, at Marble Hill House in Twickenham. The film was so-so - Hathaway's accent was a bit patchy, although she seemed endearing enough that this wasn't  really too distracting, & whilst overall the film seemed quite light & sweet, it would have been nice to have had a bit more backbone (I haven't read the book, & now i'm not sure I will, unless people would recommend otherwise..?) Film aside, it was a lovely location, & we ate through a delectable picnic of falafel, humous, crisps, & a lot of popcorn, wrapped ourselves in our tartan rugs, & enjoyed one of the last crisp nights of the summer...

Here are the pictures...

Three-Two-One (& a half)

3 petit-fours at The Nightingale, London. The Nightingale has a New York sort of decor, with a French touch to the cuisine. These biscuits were buttery & delightful, with the softest touch of chocolate or apricot filling.

I walk a lot: I won't be separated from my Oxford brogues, they're invaluable. I'm killing with kindness the pair on the left (from Office); holes are appearing on the soles, but I'm afraid to take them to the cobbler for fear he will say they're too far gone. The brown/white pair are from Primark.

Frippery, frivolous, completely impractical, & I love it. I recently came to the revelation that so many of my bags are too roomy to be dainty enough for a little light dinner out, or an evening stroll. This one, from Topshop, combines the scallop cut - a pattern I also adore on clothes such as a blouse trim or a short cut-off - with a pretty lilac/grey shimmer of material. The ring by its side is also by Topshop.
