Style It Up: Winter Accessories!

It can be pretty tricky trying to retain a bit of style & pretty in the Winter season; last night, Sophie & I were getting excited about the release of the provisional show schedule for London Fashion Week a/w 2013, & having never been in the Spring, she advised me that it's all about the little touches: the bags, the heels, the accessories... The good thing about the little things is that they don't have to cost a paycheck: I found the hair-tie from River Island (after being inspired by this one) for only 3.00GBP! Here are a few of my current favourites, photographed on a new scarf (I love the neon stripe in it!) from h&m..

Happy holidays!

Weekend Recap

1. London Eye.

2,3. Cakes from the food market on the Southbank.

3. Chinese New Year in Soho.

4. National Gallery, dome in the entrance hallway.

5. Sweater from Topshop via gift card (thanks National Theatre!). Planning on totally rocking this like Taylor Tomasi Hill with a red lipstick (it reminded me of this Proenza Schouler collection)

6. A Room for London. This is so cool, it's a temporary exhibit of a boat atop the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank. Throughout 2012 it's available for sleepovers, 120 pounds for 2 people. (however, it's now sold out!)

7. Coral by Barry M polish, Burberry scarf.

'Tis The Season To Sparkle!

Sorry to be misleading, but no, my jewellery isn't from Cartier! I just snapped this shot on the way home yesterday, looks like a pretty magical dolls house, no?

Had plans to edit a blogroll this eve, but Page Elements isn't loading - anyone else on Blogger experiencing this..? Sad face.

Head to Toe

These were in-theory First Date shoes; in-practice, they're death-by-heels/crippling implements that need a little wearing in around the house first. But I love them. (from Zara)

Inspired by Jessie, & with a heavily focussed mind & steady determination of hand (oh, & a few tissues for erasing errors), I incorporated half-moons into my manicure, choosing these 2 blues. Barry M was great for such artistry given that it's not a brand to make superfast drying polishes - my advice? work quickly, & wipe off errors with a tissue as you go. Apparently chemists sell stickers for such stencilry; maybe next time I'll give that a go..

Mandarina Pschitt, & Other Fabulously Named Make-Up That You May Need This Season

Max Factor Mini polish in Silver, Barry M polish in Cobalt Blue, By Terry lip gloss in Mandarina Pschitt

Throughout Summer, my nails were painted mostly with a mint green (Barry M, but there seemed to be plenty of versions of that gorgeous Tiffany Box shade). Into Autumn, I've replaced it with a darker blue. Blue with a striped brown/tan tee or a grey sweater goes perfectly. For a more conservative look, I've chosen this slate colour by Max Factor Minis (what a great way to test new colours without breaking the bank!) The sparkle in it reminds me of granite.

Bright lip colours work all year round. I've been searching for a vibrant orange for a while (I don't think Revlon sell Orange Flip over here in the UK? - as seen on the likes of Alicia and Bee), so when I came across this gloss, I couldn't resist. I've been avoiding gloss for a while, wondering if it doesn't quite add the "grown-up" factor, but I think a good quality gloss in a strong colour totally works. This orange is virtually neon - so keeping up with the whole colour blocking/neon trend from summer - & I think will look just fab when worn with a lovely long black or tan or camel coat. Bring it on, Autumn!

Coral Bay

OK, so i'm somewhat addicted to the colour coral this spring/summer. I love it paired with tan or nude tones & bare skin. This top sort of evokes Valentino to me, the flowered collar gives it such a feminine edge, tied into a bow at the nape of the neck.

skirt by Zara, blouse & bra by Topshop, earrings by Banana Republic, lipstick: Coral, Revlon, nail-polish: Coral, Barry M.
